When Summer Fades to Fall.

I’m grateful for the transition from Summer to Fall, as each season brings its own excitement.

I believe it's important to let the changing seasons influence our indoor experiences through visual elements, scents, textures, and tastes—connecting the outdoors to our living spaces. Here are some ways you can easily implement my favorite approaches to your home.

FLORALS: Incorporating summer florals into your Fall decor can brighten your space and provide a nostalgic reminder of warmer days.

Use vibrant summer flowers to add color to your home. As the flowers dry, they will transition beautifully, maintaining their charm while introducing the earthy tones of Fall. Additionally, the scent of these flowers can evoke memories of summer, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

This practice not only livens up your decor but also helps you hold onto the essence of summer as you embrace the beauty of the Fall season.

FOOD: Utilizing summer’s garden harvest in your Fall cooking allows you to enjoy vibrant flavors as the season changes.

Incorporate seasonal ingredients like fresh corn into your meals, which can add sweetness and warmth to cool Fall nights. Use vegetables and herbs from your summer garden to create hearty soups, salads, and casseroles, making the most of their peak flavors.

This approach not only enhances your meals but also celebrates the bounty of the harvest, keeping the spirit of summer alive in your kitchen throughout the Fall.

TEXTILES: Incorporating textiles into your home decor can create a cozy atmosphere while blending the vibrancy of summer with the earthy tones of Fall.

Use lightweight linens to introduce color and texture to your space. Layer summer hues with rustic Fall shades in table settings or for cozy gatherings, making it easy to adjust for warmth as needed. Consider mixing different fabrics, like cotton and wool, to enhance comfort and visual interest.

This layering technique not only adds depth to your decor, but also creates an inviting environment for gatherings, allowing you to enjoy the best of both seasons.

TABLE SCAPE: Creating a cohesive table scape that blends seasonal elements can enhance your gatherings, making them visually appealing and functional.

Combine florals, food, and textiles from both seasons to achieve a harmonious look. Use summer flowers alongside Fall-inspired tableware, and feature seasonal dishes highlighting fresh ingredients. Layer textiles in complementary colors to unify the setting and add comfort for your guests.

This thoughtful combination not only keeps your decor interesting, but also celebrates the transition between seasons, fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere for memorable gatherings.

The nostalgia of summer enhances our anticipation for the cool days ahead. By naturally combining elements from both seasons, we can easily transition our homes and embrace the beauty of what’s to come.

All of these elements can be included in your next interiors shoot. Reach out to Christy to learn more.
